Excel combine text from cells quick tip - Excel concatenate function tutorial

This is a Microsoft Excel quick tip on how to combine text strings from multiple cells. Just follow these simple steps:

1. Click on the cell you want to display the result in. Click the fx button below the ribbon and search for Concatenate function. Double click concatenate from the search results list.

2. Select the cells you want to combine to separate input fields (you can only select one cell to a field) and press enter.

To concatenate with space: if you want to insert a space between the text strings, just hit space bar in Text2 field. Excel will add quotation marks around your space automatically when you move to the next field (all text strings inside functions have to be inside quotation marks).

Syntax

CONCATENATE(A2;" ";B2)
Note: depending on your regional settings you might have to use comma (,) as a separator instead of semicolon (;) which i have used here.
